A Closer Look at the GWN7670WM Wi-Fi 7 Access Point

Explore the GWN7670WM Wi-Fi 7 access point with 3.6 Gbps throughput, MLO, 4K QAM, and support for 256 clients in high-density indoor networks.

Grandstream has recently announced their new GWN7670WM in-wall Wi-Fi 7 access point, a new indoor access point engineered to elevate your wireless network experience with exceptional throughput and unwavering stability. This new model builds on the foundation of the GWN7661 Wi-Fi 6 access point, adding advanced features like Multi-Link Operation (MLO) and 320 MHz channel support.

Grandstream GWN7670WM WiFi7 In-Wall AP

The GWN7670WM is well-suited for settings such as offices, schools, and hospitality spaces where many users and devices rely on consistent, fast wireless connections.

Support for Wi-Fi 7 and 320 MHz Channels

The GWN7670WM complies with the IEEE 802.11be standard, also known as Wi-Fi 7. One of the most important upgrades Wi-Fi 7 brings is support for 320 MHz channel width on the 6 GHz band. This doubles the capacity of 160 MHz channels from Wi-Fi 6, enabling faster data transfers in less congested bands.

The access point supports simultaneous dual-band operation with 2x2:2 MIMO. This means it uses two spatial streams on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (or 6 GHz, depending on deployment) bands to improve data throughput and range.

Multi-Link Operation and 4K QAM

The GWN7670WM features Multi-Link Operation (MLO), allowing devices to connect across multiple bands for stable performance under load or varying signal quality. It also supports 4096-QAM (4K QAM) modulation, enhancing data capacity over 1024-QAM from Wi-Fi 6, though it requires optimal signal quality.

Throughput and Device Handling

The GWN7670WM supports up to 3.6 Gbps in total wireless throughput. It also includes 1x 2.5G Ethernet port for uplink or LAN use. It can handle up to 256 concurrent clients, which makes it a good fit for classrooms, shared office spaces, and retail settings.

This model also integrates a built-in controller that can manage up to 50 other GWN APs, which simplifies small to medium deployments. For larger setups, it works with Grandstream’s cloud-based GDMS or the on-premise GWN Manager software.
