Election Day Considerations
This year's EDUCAUSE Annual Conference does begin on Election Day for the United States. We are aware that this causes concern for some members and attendees. We can assure you this conflict will not arise again. While there are many factors that go into choosing conference dates and locations, this year's election was apparently not considered when the EDUCAUSE 2012 Annual Conference convention center contract was signed over 7 years ago. We regret the inconvenience this may cause our members. In the last two years, EDUCAUSE staff have developed a more thorough site selection process to avoid future calendar conflicts, whether major or religious holidays, as well as U.S. Federal elections.
We encourage you to use alternative voting methods available (e.g., voting via absentee/mail-in ballots). To enable you to follow election results on Tuesday without missing part of the conference program, we've scheduled the exhibit hall reception for Wednesday night instead. We hope the Election Day activities do not keep you from attending this year's conference.
